Description

This early to mid 1970s Biba ensemble is presented in superb vintage condition. Tailored from a purple velvet, the jacket is tailored to a short, boxy style with an elegant V-neckline. Shoulder pads add structure. It closes at the front with two large plastic buttons with a swirling purple-red colourway and is lined with tonal purple satin. The skirt is cut from the same fabric and is gathered at the waistband which gives way to a full skirt. It has a high-waisted cut with a wide waistband. The belt, which is attached to the skirt, has a chunky circular buckle which is cut from high-shine silver metal. The skirt fastens at the rear of the waist with two tonal purple buttons. It is unlined.

This piece really belongs in a serious collection or museum as Biba clothing was often loved and worn to death by its owners! Condition wise, this is in excellent vintage condition and is well preserved with no issues. There is no composition label and the fabric has no stretch. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 37” (94cm), Waist: 31” (80cm), Hips: 45” (114cm) and Height: 5' 10.5" (180cm). She's a size UK 12, US 8 and the waist band was too tight but in all other respects was a good fit - maybe a UK size 10, US 6 overall.
