1980s Maurice Daquin Black Felt Wool Cape Coat
Description
This graceful midi-cape was made in France by Maurice Daquin in the late 1970s to early 1980s. With a mid-thigh grazing length, it is woven from a mid-weight black mohair and wool blend giving it a fluffy, textured feel. Cut from one piece of cloth, the cape is open at the front and fastens at the neck with two decadent circular buttons with an ombré black-to- bronze finish. These are looped together with black braid. The armholes are formed by folds of fabric and secured by two of the glistening buttons on each sleeve. Though beautifully made, the cape is unlined. The label reads “Maurice Daquin Paris” in silver thread against black cloth.
In excellent vintage condition with no issues and looks barely worn. Made from 86% Wool, 14% Polyamide. These fluid cape designs are my favourite as they hint at what's underneath and are really good paired with large statement jewellery pined to the wool knit as it doesn't damage the material. The cape is truly one size fits all.
