Description

This charismatic 1980s Terence Nolder skirt is tailored from a hot pink and tangerine orange silk chiffon with a bold splashy floral print. It has a swirling, pleated finish and falls to the bottom of the calf. The print is further enlivened with high-shine gold silk lame detailing which forms ripples across the flowers and down the length of the skirt. The beautiful, highly detailed waistband is cut to a curved, basque style and is crafted from a thick metallic pink brocade woven with abstract florals in orange and fuchsia. The skirt is lined with a rich, dark pink-purple satin and fastens at the back of the waist with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye.

In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is labelled a size UK 12, but please check our measurements as the waist band is much smaller when compared to modern sizing. There are no composition labels. Best suited for sizes UK 8-10 or US 4-6.

Notes on Designer: Terence Nolder was a distinguished British fashion designer celebrated for his luxurious and highly collectible eveningwear throughout the 1970s and 1980s. After taking over design duties at the legendary London label Quorum in the late 1970s — a house previously associated with figures such as Ossie Clark and Alice Pollock — Nolder reinvigorated its reputation with refined tailoring, opulent fabrics, and bold yet elegant silhouettes that epitomised high-end British couture. His work earned significant industry recognition, including the British Eveningwear Designer of the Year Award in 1980 and the British Designer of the Year Award in 1981.
