Description

This knitted daytime tunic-dress by Chanel dates back to 1986. We believe it was created as part of the Spring 1986 collection, which featured striped Breton knits throughout. Karl Lagerfeld’s muse Inès de La Fressange - the first model to sign an exclusive contract with Chanel - was photographed wearing a very similar style during a photoshoot in 1986.

The dress is woven from a soft and lightweight cotton patterned with white and dark blue stripes. It has a wide scoop neckline and is tailored to lightly hug the curves. The panel around the waistband is solely white. The fabric on the cuffs and the bottom hem is doubled back on itself and is white together with the rimmed collar. The dress is unlined.

Dating back 40 years, this piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The label reads 100% Cotton, and is labelled a French 42 but vintage brand sizes vary so please check our measurements closely. This piece has some stretch to it so please allow a small degree of flexibility on the below measurements. We think it suited to sizes UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
