Description

This original 1920s little black dress is an unlabelled haute couture example, fully sequinned all over and in truly excellent antique condition. Tailored to a timeless flapper silhouette, this exquisite tabard gown has a gentle scope neckline, calf-revealing length and flowing, loose-cut body with two side slits up to the knee. There are two types of sequins, smooth and faceted which form a wave-like pattern. They shimmer in the light and provide a textual look and finish to the garment. The tasselled black bugle bead hemline creates dynamic movement and weight. The sequins have been stitched onto a fine silk tulle mesh which is every bit as soft to the touch as the day it was made. There are lots of hand finished details and this quality was only reserved for haute couture garments; the label though has been lost with the passage of time. Over a century old, true flapper dresses from this era rarely come to market in such remarkable condition. She is without fault, displays beautifully and genuinely wearable with care; a good fit a range of sizes from UK 8-14 or US 4-10.
