1930s Cerulean Blue Floral Chiffon Tea Dress
Description
This 1930s ankle length dress is cut to a classic tea dress style in cobalt blue chiffon with striking fuchsia, pale blue, yellow and pistachio green florals dotted across it. Full of character with lovely period details; it has a keyhole cut out at the rear that fastens at the back of the neck with two intricately carved, polished buttons in darkest purple. It has tiny cap-sleeves and is gathered and ruched across the shoulder. It fastens at the side with hook-and-eye clasps and poppers. The bias-cut is supremely flattering, allowing the cloth to lightly follow the shape of the body without being clingy.
This pretty dress is very well made and probably had a USA retail label in it at some point as its not a home made piece. In staggeringly good vintage condition, particularly for a garment of nearly 90 years of age. We can find no fault with her and she is very fresh and ready to wear. She would of had a coordinating slip at one time but you would need to match this with one of your own in a nude, white or cream shade or bright blue. No labels remain in the dress so please check the measurements below closely as the fabric has no stretch. We believe it would best fit up to sizes UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
