1930s Gold Floral Lame Dress with Green Lame Fluted Sleeves
Description
This outstanding 1930s lamé evening dress is cut to a classic bias-cut silhouette and has a gentle V-neck and full skirt that swirls around the ankles. The fabric is mesmerising, a burnished pale gold detailed all-over with intricate lamé embroidery dotted with roses, splashy florals and foliage. This dress is full of character with lovely period details; it has theatrical, flowing angel-sleeves in a contrasting hue of jade green that fall to the hip. The bust is gathered and the bias-cut is supremely flattering, allowing the cloth to lightly follow the shape of the body without being clingy. It fastens under the left arm with a series of hidden snap closures. This dress is unlined and for comfort, we recommend a nude coloured slip or body suit underneath.
This beautiful dress is in excellent vintage condition, particularly for a piece of nearly a century of age. She is robust and wearable with no faults of any note save for very gentle age appropriate wear and tarnishing to the lame in a uniform fashion. Most likely bespoke made by a British atelier using couture Parisian fabrics. No labels remain in the dress so please check the measurements below closely as the fabric has no stretch. We believe that this would best fit a size UK 8-10, US 4-6.
