1930s Gold Floral Lame Dress with Organza Capelet
Description
1930s gold and floral lame dress with contemporary custom-made capelet. Of an ankle skimming length, this piece is crafted from the most incredible fabric; a glittering golden lamé detailed with paler gold textured leaves that appear to spin towards the ground as they catch the light. Among the shimmering leaves, fuchsia and pale pink roses nestle amongst pale grey-blue floral sprays. The bust is gathered to form a sweetheart neckline that reveals the décolletage. The back of the dress has an off-kilter fastening which is secured with hook-and-eye clasps. There are stitched pleats across the back finished with a pretty ruffle. This gathered cloth gives way to soft pleats which fall the length of the skirt, fanning out towards the end of the train. This means that the skirt flares out as the wearer walks, or dances. This gown is fully lined in matte chartreuse silk which was custom added for the client. It is accompanied by a modern bespoke capelet which was made especially for the dress, tailored from sheer bronze chiffon. It perfectly complements the metallic gown.
1930s dresses are extremely collectable, particularly when they’re in such rare, excellent condition. We spotted no flaws of any note. No labels remain in the dress so please check the measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. Our model is a UK 8-10, US 4-6 and very tall at 5 ft 11 in / 180 cm. This dress fit her well with room to spare; there is plenty of room in the hip for up to a UK size 12 or US 8.
