Description
Popularised in the 1940s, the swing or swagger coat’s iconic silhouette was generously cut and its playful, flared look made it a hit with the era’s most glamorous movers and shakers. This coat, which is between royal blue and navy in colour has two labels which read “Miss Los Angeles of California” and “Forstmann”. Forstmann Woolen Co. was a wool company formed in 1904. The Forstmann label was often included alongside the garment designer’s label as a demonstration of the high quality of the product.

Tailored from 100% virgin wool, it fastens at the neck with a large tonal fabric button and features a wide pointed collar and slip pockets to the front. It is exceptionally well lined in very high quality rayon which has been wool backed for extra warmth. The additional weight of these combined fabrics provide the "swing" and it is a joy to wear. A coat of this quality is a rare find, especially in such excellent vintage condition. Very fresh looking, there are no visible faults and she appears unaltered. Will fit a great range of sizes up to a UK 14 or US 10.
