1950s L'Aignon Navy Cotton Short-Sleeve Dress with Pleat Detail

This navy cotton dress was made by L’Aignon in the 1950s - a very high quality American ready to wear brand sold in some of the best department stores in the US. They regularly advertised in Vogue from the 1940s to 1960s. The dress is cut to a classic short-sleeve shirt-waister style with a nipped-in waist and flared skirt silhouette that fall to around the mid-calf. The fabric is detailed with knife pleats the whole length of the dress which adds interesting texture to this timeless piece. It has a rounded neckline and fastens down the front with large tonal navy buttons which fall to the bottom hem. The skirt is box pleated at the waist and is unlined.

In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note and looks barely worn. It has no size labels so please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We believe it would best fit a size UK 10, US 6 as it has a smaller waist but plenty of give in the hip.
