1950s Pale Yellow Organza Dress with Crisscross Ribbon Bodice
Description
This delicate late 1950s maxi dress is tailored from soft, pale yellow manmade organza printed with painterly yellow florals. With a sleeveless bodice and rounded neckline, the top of the dress features a charming design created from pleated yellow ribbon laid over the organza, forming a crisscross effect that accentuates the waist and bust. At the back the pleated ribbon meets as a belt and fastens with hook-and-eye clasps. The waist is neatly nipped in above a full, ankle-length skirt that moves with soft volume. The swishy, full skirt is lined with tulle and a bottom layer of yellow satin for a comfortable wear. The dress fastens at the back with a tonal metal zip and hook-and-eye.
This dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition - some areas to the tulle underskirt have been professionally repaired by our in-house seamstress and are unseen when worn. No labels remain in the dress so please check our measurements below. The fabric has no stretch. A best fit for up to a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 with a slim waist. There is plenty of give in the hip.
