1950s Silk Chiffon Floral Print Maxi Dress with Belt

A vibrant original 1950s silk chiffon couture made maxi-dress. The fabric is summery and playful; white and yellow daisies, red poppies and blue irises are set against a lust, dark green background. The dress has a sweetheart neckline supported by delicate spaghetti straps. The bust is boned all the way around and gives way to a full, swirling skirt that is generously cut from swathes of fine silk chiffon. The skirt is lined with thick dark green iridescent taffeta to add volume. The bust is also lined with dark green taffeta for a comfortable, luxurious wear. The dress fastens under the left arm with a zip and finished with a lined chiffon belt in the same print which fastens at the front with an elaborate silver-tone filigree buckle.

This dress is in wonderful vintage condition with no issues of any note - very fresh looking. No labels remain in the dress; it is however of fine quality and looks to have been dress maker made. The fabric has no stretch. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 37” (94cm), Waist 31” (80cm), Hips: 45” (114cm), 5' 10.5" (180cm) and she's a size UK 12, US 8. The dress was a great fit on her.
