1960s Calderón Long-Sleeve Black Sequin Checkerboard Wool Maxi Dress
Description
This beautifully crafted dress was designed by Calderón in the late 1960s and is similar to Geoffrey Beene designs from the era. It is luxuriously tailored from black wool woven with elastic to create a thick stretch-knit. The dress has a graceful high neckline and long, slim sleeves. The skirt is cut to an A-line silhouette and falls to the floor. The top half of the gown is smothered in black sequins, lending it a glossy high-octane finish. The skirt is woven from candy pink, tangerine, red, magenta and black wool to a spotlight-stealing checkerboard pattern. This is overlaid with criss-crossing rows of black sequins to form a diamond effect. The dress zips up the back to the top of the collar and is lined with black satin throughout.
In excellent condition, with no issues to the knit or the sequin work. It has no size or composition labels. The fabric in the top has some stretch so there is flexibility on the measurements below. We think it suitable for up to a UK 10 or US 6.
