1960s French Batik Rainbow Silk Sleeveless Dress

This French couture dress was designed in the late 1960s and is tailored from a watercolour rainbow printed silk chiffon using a batik technique. The dress has a fitted top with tiny cap-sleeves. The nipped-in waist gives way to a short, swirling knee-length skirt of pleated chiffon that amplifies the colours of the dress; blurred aqua, lime, yellow, violet and pink. The neckline has a soft curved collar crafted from chiffon. It fastens at the back of the neck with a hidden zip, and a hook-and-eye clasp sits above a keyhole cut-out. The dress is lined with an aqua blue satin slip that is attached.

Beautifully made but unlabelled, the dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. It has no composition or size label, so please double-check our measurements below. The fabric has no stretch and our estimate is a best fit for up to a size UK 8-10 or US 4-6 and sizes smaller.
