1969 Pierre Cardin Haute Couture Silver Collar Necklace
Description
This striking collared necklace was designed by Pierre Cardin circa 1969, during the height of his “Space Age” period which is most sought after today. The necklace formed part of a broader series of avant-garde accessories created to complement Cardin's futuristic haute couture collections from 1967 to 1970. A closely related example was notably featured in a 1969 editorial for British Vogue pictured here.
Expertly crafted from silver-plated steel and brass, the piece comprises a structured choker with articulated platelet links, culminating in a bold circular medallion. The medallion encloses a geometric arrangement of layered rectangular forms, exemplifying Cardin’s signature modernist aesthetic.
The interior of the collar is stamped: “Pierre Cardin Made in France.” Condition is very good to excellent, with only minor surface scratches and light tarnishing to the reverse of the platelets, consistent with age.
