Description

In 1961, after ten years honing his craft under Cristóbal Balenciaga, Andre Courrèges launched his own fashion house. Today his namesake brand is being revived under the creative direction of Nicholas di Felice and the pieces from the early years, designed by Courrèges himself, become more and more sought after.

This ankle-grazing A-line gown, circa 1970 - 1974, is tailored from a thick cotton to a typically architectural, elongating shape. Printed with bold red-on-white polka-dots, this dress has the distinct modernist feel that became the designer’s signature. The white rounded collar continues around the back of the neck where it fastens with a large white snap closure. Two polka dot racer-back straps fall from the collar, secured with two further white snap closures. There is a hidden zip at the rear and the original label reads ‘Courrèges Paris Made in France’ and is numbered haute couture. Fully lined in fine white cotton, this dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note. A good fit for up to a UK 6-8 or US 2-4. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in / 163 cm, this fit her perfectly.
