Description

Bill Gibb was one of one of the most extraordinary British designers of all time & this is an exemplary piece of his fashion design. The print of this skirt is well documented - the designer produced a range of separate's including knitwear & this skirt would have belonged to this collection. This skirt is pictured in the November 1974 Harpers and Queen magazine curtesy of lizeggleston.com. The skirt is a thick cotton velvet with the piano key pattern in off white and ebony with tones of taupe and soft grey. Although this is the famed piano key print it is actually made up of vertical rows of graduating rectangular shapes. The shape of the skirt gently flares and it has very subtle side panels of gathered material ensuring a wonderful fluted shape from the top of the thigh and holds its shape to the hem. The skirt is gently gathered at the waist and fastens to the side with a zip and hook and eyes. The hook and eyes could be adjusted if desired. The skirt is fully lined in a quality satin. This is a rare piece in excellent vintage condition with no faults of any note. We estimate the size to be a UK 6 or US 0-2 as the waist is 24 inches.
