1970s Cream Wool Sequinned Dress with Green Zigzag Pattern
Description
This rich cream wool dress was designed in the 1970s by Imperial and is hand-decorated with eye-catching, iridescent cream sequins all-over. The beadwork across this gown is irresistible. Blown-up zigzag patterns in emerald green cover the whole dress, intricately detailed and composed of drum beads, iridescent sequins and dotted with ivory pearls. The beadwork sits on a wool cloth that has a hint of stretch, making it a very comfortable wear that flatteringly hugs the wearer’s body. It is tailored to a maxi-length with a rounded neckline and thick straps. The edges of this dress are trimmed with twisting rows of green drum beads. A tonal zip secures the back of the dress, topped with a hook-and-eye clasp. There is a slit in the back of the skirt. The label reads “Made in Hong Kong” and it would have been entirely hand-embellished. Hong Kong was renowned for its craftsmanship during this time.
Extremely well preserved and is in excellent vintage condition; the beading is particularly pristine for a piece of its age. The composition label states that this is 100% Wool. It is labelled a US size 10 but more suited to a US 6 or UK 10 in modern sizing. The fabric has about 0.5cm of stretch on the below measurements. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in (180cm) and this was a great fit on her.
