Description

Made in the USA circa 1975, this enchanting wedding dress, with its tiered construction and layers of delicate lace, is an unforgettable choice for any vintage-loving bride. It has a long-sleeved top with a fitted bust and wide, rounded neckline trimmed with a lace ruffle. The silhouette is fitted at the waist and there is a zig-zag hemline, below this, the frothy lace layers start to fall. Five tiers of machine made lace with delicate scallop hems fall across the sides of the skirt. These layers swirl around the wearer and up-close, the detail of the beautiful lace is revealed, composed of intricately woven leaves and flowers. The dress has a small train at the back which puddles on the floor. A concealed, tonal zip and hook-and-eye fastens the back. This dress is fully lined in ivory satin - probably viscose or acetate.

This wedding dress is in very good vintage condition and the lace element is without fault and fresh looking. There are a few faint marks and tiny knicks on the bottom layer of satin which cannot be seen when worn. The designer or retail label has been lost to the passage of time and the only remaining label is for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) from the period 1974 to 1995. The fabric does not have any stretch and we estimate this will fit sizes up to a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 with plenty of room in the hip.
