1970s Hermès French Blue Pleated Skirt with Leather Belt Detail
Description
This vibrant skirt was designed by Hermès during the late 1970s to early 1980s. Crafted from high quality viscose, it has a bold French blue hue that makes it an ideal summer wear. The skirt is box pleated and falls to the mid-calf. The waistband sits high on the waist and fastens on the left hand side with two chunky silver-tone hook-and-eye clasps and a hidden tonal blue zip. The skirt is lined with blue satin. At the waist, the brand’s signature, centuries old leather craftsmanship comes into play. A small white leather belt adorns the front of the waistband, detailed with gold-tone metal buckles, a pattern of tiny perforations and a tie-up front reminiscent of a corset. The ties are finished with two leather tassels.
Made in France, this piece is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. Labelled a French size 40, the skirt has no stretch. If you have a small waist this could work, otherwise probably better for a US 6 or UK 10 in modern sizing.
