1970s Ted Lapidus Haute Couture Pinafore Dress

This is an exceptional quality, buttoned pinafore dress purchased with many of the beautiful Ted Lapidus designs that we currently have for sale. It is unlabelled but absolutely of French origin and of haute couture construction. Made by hand of a fine wool crepe with ribbon braiding decorating the edges. It is a double breasted wrap over style with four rows of very fine quality gold embossed buttons featuring the French fleur-de-lis emblem either side of an anchor. The dress has one flap pocket. The back of the piece has four panels intercepted at the waist so it is quite slim fitting with a straight look. The lining is coordinating in fine silk.

This piece is in exceptional vintage condition. We estimate it to date from 1968 through to the early 1970s but it is of such a timeless quality and would look great dressed up or down and accessorised. Best fit for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
