1970s Young Edwardian Embroidered Linen Maxi Dress
Description
This dress was created in the 1970s by Young Edwardian, a collectible American vintage label which drew inspiration from antique clothing designs. Crafted from a thick white linen, it is tailored to a maxi-length with long bell-sleeves which are gathered at the cuffs. The neck is rounded and is finished with a tie in coordinating linen at the front. The skirt is finished with a wide ruffle flounce hem at the bottom. It is the elaborate ombré rainbow embroidery that sets this piece apart; two bands of it sit across the sleeves and at the front. The front is fastened with three white plastic buttons and fabric loops and a top hook-and-eye clasp. This dress is put on by pulling over the head. It is unlined. In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note and looks barely worn. Labelled a US size 5, it is better suited in modern sizing to a US 4 or UK 8 and the fabric has no stretch.
