1980s Escada Jewel Toned Paisley Silk Blouse with Detachable Collar
Description
This vibrant silk blouse by Escada dates back to their 1980s heyday when they were a very high profile luxury brand. The bold, blown-up paisley design across the silk is resplendent in jewel-like tones of coral, cobalt blue, violet and emerald green. The blouse has a detachable collar and tie which button onto the rounded neckline. They form an optional high-neckline and pussy-bow. The shirt has a half placket which is secured with cobalt blue pearlescent buttons. The body of the shirt has a relaxed, floaty fit and the sleeves are cut to a bell-sleeve silhouette with button cuffs. The label reads “Escada by Margaretha Ley”, the designer herself having founded the brand in 1978. The shirt is unlined.
In excellent vintage condition, the blouse has seen little wear and the fabric has retained all of its vibrancy. Labelled 100% Silk and a European 34. This equates to a UK size 8 or US size 4 but it's quite a generous oversized piece; it could work on up to 2 sizes larger and also fit a UK 12 or US 8. The fabric has no stretch.
