Description

The House of Emanuel Ungaro was founded in 1965 after the designer's brief stint working for both Cristobal Balenciaga and Andre Courreges. Ungaro was known for his lively prints and excellent craftmanship; pieces are beautifully made and were only retailed in the 'creme de la creme' of department stores.

This vibrant silk wrap-over dress was made in Italy during the 1980s (circa 85-89) and was created as part of the brand’s “Parallele” line which was Ungaro's high-end ready to wear clothing. Tailored from a soft, lightweight crepe and printed all-over with splashy, painterly florals in greens, yellows, purple and reds. The dress is tailored to a draped wrap-around shape with a sensuous low neckline. The sleeves are full-length with a slight leg o’mutton silhouette, emphasised by a puff-shoulder, slim zip-up cuff and bold shoulder pads. The dress fastens at the back with a hidden white zip and hook-and-eye clasp.

In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. No composition label but probably silk crepe and labelled an old vintage size US 8. This runs small and is better suited for up to a modern size UK 10 or US 6 with a smaller waist. Please check our below measurements as the fabric has no stretch.
