1989 Junior Gaultier Gold Lamé Lace-Up Trouser

From the late-1980s, these magnificent, metallic Jean Paul Gaultier trousers are a rare find and in virtually unworn condition. A very well documented design of the iconic French designer’s Spring 1989 collection and made for his Junior line. The fabric is mesmerising; gold lamé thread woven into neat rows that glitter as they catch the light. Cut to a high-waist, slim-fit cigarette silhouette, the sides are laced with thick black shoelaces threaded through gold-tone metal eyelets. This lacing adds a punk twist typical of the label at this time. These trousers are secured at the back of the waist with a hidden tonal gold-tone zip and hook-and-eye clasp. These trousers are unlined and the reverse of the lamé thread shows as black. The label reads “Junior Gaultier” in black font on dark green cloth and the original tag is still attached.
These trousers are in superb archival vintage condition. They are labelled an Italian size 44 but vintage sizes vary hugely so please check the measurements below closely. They are labelled 100% Cotton but we believe that must refer to the trims. The fabric has some stretch horizontally and we believe that these would best fit a modern size UK 8, US 4 with the ties fully closed.
