Description

Oleg Cassini designed this spotlight-stealing dress in the 1990s for his Black Tie line. Born in Paris to an aristocratic Russian family, Cassini moved to Hollywood at the end of the 1930s and became a costume designer for Paramount Pictures. Over the course of his 60 year career he dressed icons of stage and screen, including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Renée Zellweger and Taylor Swift, and was appointed Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal couturier.

Crafted from gold silk to a playful mini-dress style and heavily adorned all over with strands of glistening gold beads and sabre-shaped sequins, this is a dress made for the dance floor as the beads shimmy and echo the movement of the wearer as they dance. The short-sleeves and big shoulder pads add to the drama of the silhouette. The skin-flashing V-neckline is trimmed with gold sequins and rows of shimmering beads. The dress is fully lined with gold rayon and is secured at the back of the neck with a tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.

This dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition with no flaws noticable to the beadwork or silk. It is labelled a size US 10, but it runs smaller and the fabric does not have any stretch. Our model is 5'10" or 180cm and a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 and this fit her well with some room to spare. Please note this would be a knee length dress on those who are shorter.
