2003 Burberry Green Blue Yellow Floral Wool Coat
Description
This vibrant jacket was designed by Christopher Bailey as part of Burberry’s Fall 2003 collection and a similar yellow version walked the runway (look 5/42). He described wanting the collection to bring “energy, color, something to make people feel better.” Tailored from wool, the coat is patterned with the sun-lit florals of an English garden. We spot hydrangeas, foxgloves, dahlias, bindweeds, rendered in lime green, cobalt blue, deep purple and yellow, set against a cream background and interspersed with Burberry logo script. The jacket has a cocooning, relaxed fit with a wide collar and large welt pockets at the hips. The front fastens with four large silver-toned metal buttons engraved with the words “Burberry London”. The coat is lined with off-white viscose woven with the brand’s iconic Equestrian Knight logo.
This versatile jacket is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note and was purchased by the owner of Circa Vintage in 2004 who wore it just once for an early spring wedding. The composition is 100% Wool with a lining of 100% Viscose. It is labelled a size UK 12 and is true to size being a US 8 equivalent. The fabric has no stretch.
