Vintage 1960's/70's traditional embroidered, mirror and beaded Banjara dress

Banjara dresses are renowned for their highly colourful textiles and embellished with mirrors and embroidery and incorporate beads and tassels for decoration. This was a sign of celebration for the strength of women in the Banjara Tribe.

This iconic Phool style black cotton with chiffon overlay has an array of bright coloured embroidery on the bodice, cuffs and hem of the dress.

The skirt has embriodered bees flying from bodice to the hemline, which has traditional silk and embroidery to give a colourful look to the dress. This is finished off with mirror and beaded decoration.

The sleeves are chiffon with a deep embroidered cuff.
