1940s Marcel Boucher Gold-Plated Sterling and Rhinestone Bow Brooch
Description
An early 1940s Marcel Boucher brooch who was a French-American designer known for producing some of the finest costume jewelry of the 20th century. Trained in Paris and having worked for Cartier, he founded his own New York company in 1937. His designs were worn by style icons and Hollywood stars including Grace Kelly and Joan Crawford.
This brooch forms the shape of a bow with multiple, intricate loops and flowing ribbons falling away from it. It is crafted from sterling silver - marked “STERLING” on the rear - and is plated with gold and detailed with rhinestones in the curves of the ribbons. It fastens at the rear with a long C-clasp. It is engraved with Marcel Boucher’s logo on the reverse.
The brooch is in very good vintage condition. Please note there is some very slight wear (pitting) to the gold-plating which is not obvious when worn and some marks to the metal on the reverse in keeping with age. Presents beautifully.
