Description

Champagne-toned maxi dress from Max Azria's debut collection for the Hervé Léger Fall 2008 runway, conceived as the house’s sculptural take on a bridal silhouette. Hervé Léger rose to prominence in the late 1980s and 1990s with his innovative bandage dresses, made from stretch panels inspired by couture techniques. The upper body is constructed in classic bandage style, tightly contouring the figure like a corset with a starburst-like arrangement of panels that converge at a glittering bandage strip that acts as an anchor. This embellished band becomes the shoulder straps, framing a V-neckline. Below the structured bodice, the dress transitions into a voluminous, softly pleated skirt crafted from substantial silk chiffon in a tonal champagne hue. From the back, the skirt appears to begin higher on the body, but this effect is created by an attached train or cape that drapes over the skirt. Falling from the shoulder blades, it descends from the same shimmering bandage that forms a V-shape at the back and is folded into a bow at the top of the train. The skirt is lined with a tonal silk slip, while the bodice remains unlined, relying on the dense bandage mesh for structure and coverage.

The dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. The fabric is 90% Rayon, 9% Elastane, 1% Spandex with the skirt made from 100% Silk. It is labelled a size S but sizes vary across brands so please check our measurements below carefully. We believe this would best fit a UK 8, US 4.
