1910s Edwardian White Eyelet Work Wrap Dress
Description
This antique dress was created in the 1910s and is in superb condition without fault. The cotton remains brilliant white and completely unmarked, detailed with hand cut eyelet work and tonal satin stitch embroidery all-over but more heavily across the bodice, cuffs and bottom hem. Sunflowers, ferns and floral motifs finish the fabric in intricate detail. A V-neckline falls to an embroidered band that sits below the bust. The front of the dress has an asymmetric hook-and-eye fastening at the waistband giving the dress a contemporary looking cross-over design. Secured with snap closures, the opening falls down the front of the skirt but is sewn shut from the knee down. A deceptively simple, white cotton summer dress that holds over 100 years of history in its cloth. It is also a very wearable size and a suggested fit for up to UK sizes 10-12 or US 6-8.
