1920s Cream Silk Apron Embroidered Wedding Dress
Description
This enchanting antique wedding dress is in wonderful condition for a piece of its age and delicacy. Designed a century ago, it is crafted from fine cream silk in the laid-back apron style that was the early 1920s vogue. The fluid cut and drop-waist allows for ease of movement; such freedoms had not been afforded in women's fashion since the end of the Georgian period. A soft lace bow graces the gently curved neckline, and pretty scalloped sleeves add playful detail. The apron-esque tailoring of the front is unusual and parts to reveal intricate floral embroidery in tonal thread.
A truly unique choice of wedding dress for an effortlessly chic bride and in remarkable antique condition; we noted two minuscule blue marks which are hidden behind the panier apron and so cannot be seen when worn.
Unlabelled but a very well-made couture piece that was likely made in a smart bridal atelier of the day. Designed for a looser fit and so it would suit a range of sizes between a US 6-10 or UK 10-14.
