1930s Layered Black Lace Gown
Description
This full-length layered black lace gown is a truly stunning 1930s find and was couture made in France or the UK. It features an integral black satin slip with thin black velvet straps. There is a pretty frill of black lace around the top which drapes to cover the upper arms and a ruffle hem. At the back, the neckline dips to a seductive deep V and has poppers to fasten. It is rare to find a piece of nearly a century of age in such great condition and with such a wearable silhouette. The design is very reminiscent of Chanel creations from this period. Although this dress has lost its labels with the passage of time, I'm pretty sure this was the work of a well known couturier from the period as its so well made.
In fabulous antique condition for a gown of 90 years old; there are no issues of any note. The only thing if we're being very, very picky is that there are a few fabric strands that are separating on the very bottom edge of the dress; absolutely impossible to see when worn. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm). She's a size UK 6, US 0-2 and this fit her perfectly.
