1950s Harrods Navy Double Breasted Dress
Description
This dress is the epitome of elegance. Designed for iconic London department store Harrods in the late 1950s, it gives the illusion of a two-piece suit made up of a double-breasted jacket and skirt but is, in fact, a midi-dress. The wide neckline and sweeping bertha collar combine to reveal the décolletage. Slim-cut three quarter-length cropped sleeves and a nipped-in waist highlight the feminine form. Made from faux silk and of panelled construction, the double-breasted front is sewn shut and finished with eight cloth-covered buttons. A concealed zip in tonal navy secures the rear and encompasses the length of the jacket and waist section of the skirt. The full, tulle-lined skirt is attached to the underside of the jacket lining and falls to the mid-calf, fluttering around the wearer’s legs as they walk. This graceful piece is in wonderful vintage condition with no issues noted. A best fit for up to a size UK 10 or US 6. Our model (5 ft 11 in / 180 cm) is a UK 8-10, this dress fit her well.
