Description

The broderie anglaise dress has been a classic of British summertime fashion since the Victorian era. Characterised by embroidered details and peekaboo eyelets on crisp cotton cloth, this well made 1950s dress displays these details across its length. Tailored to a timeless shirtwaister silhouette, it has wide, cropped sleeves and a billowing, wide double-layered collar. Three white plastic buttons on the front are elaborately carved with tiny flowers. The skirt section falls in an A-line silhouette to the ankle. The front of the skirt is split and, at each side of the slit, the broderie anglais is folded and lined with white cotton. The skirt is also lined with a white cotton slip that is panelled with broderie anglais at the front - revealed when the skirt parts. The top is unlined and, as a result, is sheer.

In excellent vintage condition with no issues. It is unlabelled and very well made - do check the below measurements closely. A best fit for a size UK 8-10, US 4-6.
