Description

This opulent 1960s dress is a rare find. Unusually intricate in detail, it is crafted from glossy, pale cream satin and embroidered all-over with swirling vines and an assortment of flowers, including roses that look snatched from an English garden. The top seems to take inspiration from menswear waistcoats of the era; sleeveless, it has a high V-neckline and fastens down the front with three large fabric-covered buttons. Tailored to a column shape, it gently follows the curves of the body, flaring out in a slight A-line cut towards the bottom hem. The gown comes with an elegant grosgrain belt in a pale cream which is finished with a wide, flat bow. Our favourite detail on this gown is the row-upon-row of tiny pearls which trim the edge of the sleeves, the neckline and the button placket.

Highly decadent, it’s this level of detailing that makes this dress perfect for a formal occasion and although unlabelled, was most likely a bespoke piece from an atelier of repute as it is very well made. In fantastic vintage condition with no issues of any note. Please check the measurements below carefully as the fabric has no stretch. We think it good for a variety of sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
