Description

This 1960s French couture dress reminds me of similar Dior designs circa 1968-1969; however the garment has lost its labels. The body of the dress is tailored from a lightweight black silk crepe to a shift style with a kick pleat in the front of the skirt and falls to just below knee length. It is detailed with cut-out petal shapes which circle the waist and reveal the sheer black chiffon underneath. A thin black fabric belt sits over the cut-outs and is threaded with glittering diamante covered rings - it ties at the back of the waist. The sleeves of the dress are also cut from sheer black silk chiffon. They are generously cut to a bell-sleeve shape with long cuffs that fasten with fabric covered buttons and fabric loops. The dress has a wide scoop neckline. It fastens at the back of the neck with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. The dress is lined with black satin.

In very good to excellent vintage condition with just a handle of the crystals missing on the belt although these are impossible to see when worn. No labels remain; however, she is impeccably well-made with couture touches and hand stitching. A good fit for around a UK size 10, US 6 or even very small 12, US 8.
