Description

Vibrant 1960s French couture turquoise silk-satin evening dress. Created from turquoise silk-satin, it has a sheer organza overlay, creating a luminous layered effect. The sleeveless design features a rounded neckline and an empire-line cut, falling into a sweeping full skirt that moves fluidly around the ankles. The neckline and armholes are delicately edged with turquoise stitching and tiny silver round and bugle beads. Across the bust and back, intricate hand embroidery and beadwork form a wide decorative band; an abstract, painterly arrangement of horizontal turquoise and metallic silver stitching interspersed with rows of round and bugle beads. Scattered diamond motifs emerge from the pattern, each centred with firework-like bursts of high-shine silver sphere beads and radiating turquoise threads. The lower edge of the beadwork finishes in a zig-zag hem that defines the empire waist and flows into the voluminous skirt. The dress fastens at the back with a tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. A beautiful example of 1960s French couture craftsmanship, it is unlabelled.

The dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws to the beadwork or fabric - very fresh looking. Please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch.
