1960s Larry Ross Navy and White Wool Beaded Tunic Trouser Suit
Description
This two-piece 1960s suit is composed of a tunic top and trousers in a darker toned Royal blue wool. The original label reads “Enrichetta Bergo at Larry Ross”. In a style typical of the era, the elegant top has a raised Mandarin neckline, long sleeves and an elongated body. It is adorned with cylindrical white beads at the cuffs and that fall from the shoulders down the front and rear in lines that become more and more spaced out - creating a mesmerising ombré effect. The top is tailored with a slit at the side and is fully lined in viscose satin. It fastens with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasps along the back. The trousers are tailored with a graceful, panelled construction and are cut in a high-waist style with a slight flared leg. They are fully lined in satin and are fastened with a zip at the rear.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with the following notes: very minor bead and, as with all blue lining of this age, it has lightened to a violet colour on account of cleaning, wear and the dyes used at the time; it cannot be seen when worn. There is no fabric or size label so please check our measurements closely below. The fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model (5ft 4in / 163cm) is a UK 6-8 or US 2-4 and the trousers were a good fit, the tunic was a bit more roomy and could fit sizes up to a US 6 or UK 10.
