Description
This is a really fun 1970s maxi print that reminds me of a fiesta dress. It has brightly coloured coordinating stripes interspersed with a roundel and floral arrangement in red, turquoise, orange, purple, yellow and green. The unusual material is very tactile and textured with a subtle sheen. No fabric labels remain but it is probably a silk or viscose blend. The sleeves have a succession of tiered ruffles which are also echoed along the bottom hem of the dress. It's a classic shirt waister design that fastens at the front with a series of fabric covered buttons down to the waistline. The gathered skirt has two sets of poppers for access and I almost missed the side pockets they are so well hiddden! The tired skirt element is lined in a white silk organza and the bodice a red viscose blend. The dress retains a tie belt which was possibly attached to the dress at some point. It is more versatile separated as it can be used to accessorize as a headband or necktie.

The dress is long and brushes the floor on a person at 5'5" or shorter so would suit someone taller. Such a remarkable piece and it's such a shame that the designer label is no longer present; however, the quality is very apparent and this is likely to have retailed in the US in a high end department store or boutique. In really great vintage condition with no issues and best fit for around a UK 8 or US 4.
