1970s French Couture Cream Silver Glitter Chiffon Maxi Dress

This highly romantic dress could have been plucked from many eras throughout history. A 1970s creation, yet somehow timeless, it hints at the 1930s in the shape of the body and at designer dresses of today in the pattern of the cloth and the pretty, balloon-sleeve silhouette. The high, ruffled neckline ties at the throat and adds drama, giving way to featherlight, sheer sleeves and button cuffs. Shimmering silver glitter and clashing orange paint are hand-embellished onto sheer cream chiffon, creating floral forms that are reminiscent of Art Deco motifs. The unusual, intricate detail on the cloth makes this dress stand out in any room. A coordinating belt cinches the waist and is adorned with a frothy, organza rose which could be a later addition and is easily removeable.

Couture made in France, this dress has lost its label with the passage of time. It is lined from the bust down in a manmade ivory satin lining and closes at the back with a hidden zip. It is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note and would be a great choice for a wedding event or summer soirée. This dress would best fit a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
