1970s Valentino Boutique Paisley Silk Maxi Dress with Chiffon Sleeves

Crafted in Italy, this 1970s Valentino dress was designed by Valentino Garavani himself for his ready to wear line. Reissued by the brand at the beginning of 2025, this is your chance to grab the much rarer original. You'd be in good company as the reissue has been seen on Anna Wintour and is now sold out having retailed for over $11,000. Tailored from smooth silk, it is patterned with the brands “Voyage Imaginaire” print: a blown-up paisley in autumnal hues of burgundy, orange, red, olive green and grey. The A-line cut, with slightly longer back hem, sweeps the floor. There is a décolletage-flashing V-neckline and fluttering silk-chiffon angel sleeves in coordinating print. The skirt has a high slit on each side in the style of a tunic. The dress is lined with mauve silk throughout.

This dress is in excellent archival vintage condition and we noted no issues. The fabric has no stretch. It is labelled a vintage US 8 but in modern sizing this is better suited to a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 with a slimmer hip.
