1979 Yves Saint Laurent Documented Silk Seashell Print Jacket
Description
1979 documented Yves Saint Laurent shell print jacket. Saint Laurent was inspired by the work of the artist, Henri Matisse for several notable collections and the jacket really epitomises the bright colour and abstract print trends of the late 70s and early 80s. Cut in a classic collarless design, it features gathered sleeves which narrow slightly at the cuff. The neck, cuffs, and opening seams are all finished with black piping detail, and the shoulders are padded to create the designer's signature, structured silhouette. The fabric itself is a black silk with a seashell print in striking colours of deep orange, red, blue, green and white. The jacket fastens at the front with a six black glass button and is lined in a lovely soft black silky fabric. It would be perfect with tailored trousers for a contemporary office look, or could easily be worn casually for a more daytime look.
In excellent vintage condition - on closer inspection there are a couple of very minor pulls to the cuffs though these are hardly noticeable and not all all when worn. Labelled a French size 38, this jacket would best fit a 8-10 UK, or 4-6 US.
