1980s Yves Saint Laurent Silk Taffeta Purple Skirt Set

Well documented, this is an absolutely classic and desirable piece of Yves Saint Laurent evening wear dating from 1978-1983. The designer revisited this look several times during the 70s and 80s and we feel that this is quite possibly an early 80s piece. In a beautiful deep purple hue of silk taffeta, this set has some lavish design details and very generous amounts of fabric in the ruffle collar and deep cuffs. The floor length skirt is full and has an unusual asymmetric ruffle flounce so that no length is equal, juxtaposing the formal blouse element. These ensembles always look great tucked in or accompanied by an original YSL rope work belt. The skirt fastens at the side with a zip. In terms of condition this is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of wear, nothing significant to report and the piece is very clean looking. Both pieces can be worn together as a set or separately. It is meant to have an oversized romantic look and the size labels have been cut off but we believe this would fit UK size 8-10 US 4-6.
