1985 Chanel Gripoix Red and Green Earrings
Description
1985 Chanel earrings feature Gripoix hand-poured glass. Much sought-after today, Maison Gripoix often collaborated with the house of Chanel on designs. Today the jewellery designer is wholly owned by Chanel. Their specialised pâte de verre (glass paste) technique pours the glass directly into the hole by hand, allowing for more flexibility with the final form. Designed by Victoire De Castellane, they have a clip-on back and are 24 carat gold-plated. These circular earrings are detailed with tiny Cs created from spheres of gold-plated metal, each containing a hand-poured glossy cherry red or emerald green poured glass sphere. These sit around a large central red glass sphere. They are stamped on the back with the Chanel brand name, iconic double-C insignia and the year 1985.
In very good vintage condition, please note that there is some wear to the gold plating on the rear. De Castallane's early Chanel pieces are particularly sort after and these are for the connoisseur or serious collector of fine costume jewellery. They represent an important period in Chanel's history.
