1999 Chanel Runway Documented Quartz and Silver Link Chain Belt

This unusual belt opened Chanel’s Fall 1999 runway presentation (look 1/77), and went on to appear multiple times throughout the collection. This show was memorable for its stark, minimal aesthetic, during which models walked around an oval painted on the floor with “1999” written in the centre. The belt is formed from a weighty silver-toned metal chain. A large piece of white quartz crystal hangs from one end of the belt, secured to it with a silver-toned metal ring. At the other end of the belt, one of the rings is left open so that it can clip onto another and close the belt. This open ring is detailed with two embossed double-C logos.
