1999 Valentino Runway Documented Beaded Pink Tulle Ruffle Neck Top

This enchantingly whimsical blouse walked the runway for Valentino’s Spring 1999 show. Designed when Valentino Garavani himself was still at the helm of the house, this blouse epitomises the romantic, seductive designs that made his label a household name. Unlike the peekaboo runway styling pictured here, this sheer blouse is lined with a pale pink silk camisole that hangs loosely but is also sewn onto the front of the blouse at the neckline. The outer fabric is beautiful; two layers of sheer baby pink tulle scattered with thousands of minute iridescent bugle beads, drum beads and sequins. The extreme wide neckline has an elasticated band inside which allows it to be worn falling off the shoulder in a loose, romantic fashion. All of the seams on the outer tulle are lined with pale pink silk. The neckline is also trimmed with a large ruffle which recalls the flouncy collars beloved of the brand during the 1970s. The cuffs and bottom of the loose top are gathered by elasticated pink silk which creates a frothy, bouncy silhouette with a peplum waist that plays to the ethereal feel. The camisole fastens with a tonal pink zip along the left side.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws to the silk or the beadwork. The size label states that this is a UK size 12 or US 8 and the composition label is 100% Silk. The fabric has no stretch. Fairly true to size in our opinion.
