2008 Christian Dior Lilac Ice Blue Dress with Rose Appliqué

John Galliano for Christian Dior Fall 2008 commercial collection. In 2008, Heather Graham wore a gown to a Dior Party at Marrakech Film Festival that displayed similar rose detailing and drapery. This column-shaped dress showcases Galliano’s trademark bias-cut. The skirt is cut with panels that mean it flares out at the bottom hem. Tailored from the most beautiful thick cotton-silk satin which shines grey, silver, lilac or even icy blue in different lights. It has spaghetti straps in grey silk-cotton and the neckline is tailored with that Galliano touch; draped in an asymmetric manner, it manages to recall both draped Grecian styles and the classic glamour of old Hollywood. Sweeping across the shoulders and over the lowered back, it is christened with a beautiful fabric rose of the same cloth above the left side of the bust. Inside, there is a boned corset which is crafted from a soft mesh in a tonal shade. This fastens with hook-and-eyes under the left arm, beneath the hidden tonal zip which closes the outside of the gown. Lined with a tonal silk satin slip to the bottom of the skirt.

This dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. The composition label reads 60% Cotton, 40% Silk with a lining of 100% Silk. The label states that this is a UK 12 but please double-check the measurements below as Galliano era Dior dresses are slim on the hip.
